Marula Canoe Safari
Kariba to Chirundu Canoe Safari
The Marula Safari starts 8km below the Kariba dam wall and ends in Chirundu covering a total of 59km from start to finish. The safari will travel 18km through the Kariba Gorge which is narrow and steep sided, after the Gorge the terrain opens up offering an abundant variety of birdlife and antelope, occasionally elephants and buffalo have be seen on this stretch of the river.

Collected at 7:30am for check-in at Natureways. Leave passports behind. Briefing, indemnity form, then optional stop for drinks (cash preferred). After arriving at the river, hike 1.5km into the gorge. Canoes and gear pre-packed. Safety talk and paddling begins. Picnic lunch and siesta. Paddle resumes until 5pm. Camp set up at Crocodile Rocks. Enjoy a bucket bath, dinner, and a safety talk.

Wake at sunrise for tea, coffee, and biscuits. Canoe for a few hours, then stop for breakfast. Continue paddling through the scenic Zambezi Valley. Lunch and siesta at a suitable spot. Reach Twin Logs Island in the early evening to set up camp.

Up at sunrise for tea, coffee, biscuits and breakfast before going on the river. Between 10:30 and 11:00am the pick-up point at Chirundu will be reached. Here the equipment will be loaded for the return trip to Kariba or Kariba airport. Arrival back in Kariba is estimated to be 3pm. As you depart with your memories, we know that this experience will have enriched your life and touched your soul!
