Golden Monkey Encounter In The Volcanoes National Park
Get up close and personal with the rare golden monkey on an unforgettable trek in Volcanoes National Park. This one-day adventure takes you through high-altitude bamboo forests, where these playful primates swing through the trees. With their striking golden-orange fur, the golden monkeys are a unique sight, found only in the Virunga Mountains.
Golden monkey tracking begins with a morning briefing at the park offices around 7:30 am. To get there, we'll pick you up from your hotel or residence in Kigali at 4:30 am and drive to Volcanoes NP. After the briefing, you can hire a porter if needed and head to the starting point. The trek is relatively short, lasting about an hour, and less demanding than gorilla trekking. Once complete, you'll return to the starting point and be transferred back to Kigali city, drop off at your destination.
