Fly-in Gorilla Trekking Safari
Spend 1 hour with the endangered mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda. On the day of the trek, you are assigned to a group of not more than 8 people, and a gorilla family is assigned to your group. On your way to find your gorilla family in its habitat, you are immersed in the beautiful forest scenery, and your guides tell you about the different tree species and other interesting stories about the forest's inhabitants. The experience is paired with a community visit to the Batwa Pygmies, who originally lived in this forest before it was gazetted as a national park.
Day 1: Pick-up from your accommodation to Entebbe international airport for your 1 hour 20 minutes domestic flight to Kihihi airstrip.
On arrival at Kihihi airstrip, a private 4WD Land Cruiser awaits you for transfer to your accommodation, which is 1 hour away.
Day 1: Once you arrive in Buhoma, which is the sector of the park where you will have the gorilla trekking experience, you check into your accommodation.
Rest, relax, and have your lunch.
In the afternoon, you spend time with the Batwa Pygmies as they show you their way of life while they lived in the forest.
You go on a community walk where you become one with the scenic views of Bwindi forest and experience tea and coffee plantations, and a local banana wine brewery.
Day 2: This is your awaited day to spend time with the mountain gorillas.
After your 7 AM breakfast, you will head to the park and get assigned to a group of travellers you will trek with and a gorilla family you will spend time with.
You will be entertained with cultural dances before the journey to the forest starts.
We ensure that you have packed lunch with you and encourage you to carry lots of water.
Your expedition is finished off with a certificate to celebrate your achievement.
Day 2: Your driver is waiting to take you back to the accommodation after your gorilla trekking experience. Here you will rest and reminisce on your newly made memories with the gorillas.
Day 3: You will be transferred to the airstrip where you catch your flight back to Entebbe airport, where you will meet another car to transfer you back to your accommodation.
Wear comfortable hiking clothes and boots. The clothes shouldn't be of bright colours. Bring a rain jacket as it can rain at any time in the forest. Bring a hat and sunscreen. Bring bug repellent. Bring enough water
This activity needs a good level of fitness, though if you end up needing support to be carried from the forest, it can be arranged.
If you need a porter to carry your bag during the hike, they are available for hire at the park briefing center.
