Day 1: Arriving at Elephant Camp
Your walking adventure begins at Elephant Pan, our camp tucked away in the drier interior, surrounded by a forest of mopane overlooking a waterhole. After settling in, you can watch animals coming and going from the dining deck, pool, or firepit.
As dusk falls, the waterhole glows in soft light, transforming into a stage for nocturnal visitors. The night is alive with sound: elephants rumbling, hyenas whooping, frogs calling from the darkness.
Day 2: Walk to Sky-beds
Your walk today will have you following fresh animal tracks in the sand, amongst subtle markings of predators. By midday you’ll reach the underground hide, you can delight in ankle-level views of big herds as they drink and slosh in the water. A shaded picnic lunch will be waiting for you.
After a leisurely lunch you’ll walk to the Sky-beds, Three raised platforms, open to the sky, where your bed lies beneath nothing but a mosquito net and a canopy of stars.
Day 3: Underground Hide then Heli to Little Sable
You’ll walk through mopane woodlands, following animal trails towards the underground hide. By mid-morning, you’ll arrive at the hide once more, perfectly placed for a well-earned rest and a chance to watch Elephants for their midday drink.
From here, your next adventure begins – a scenic helicopter transfer to Little Sable.
Day 3: Arriving at Little Sable
Once you’ve settled in, you can decide how you’d like to spend the afternoon. You might head out on an afternoon game drive or drift quietly along the water in a mokoro.
Day 4: Morning Game Drive Make the most of your last few hours in the beautiful Khwai area. After breakfast, go on a game drive. This is the perfect end to an incredible journey.
This walking experience is available throughout the dry season (May to October) and can be tailored to your preferred dates and pace.
