Day 1: Arusha – Machame Gate (1,790m) – Machame Camp (3,010m)
After breakfast at your lodge in Arusha, your professional mountain guide will meet you and drive you to the Machame Gate, where your Kilimanjaro adventure officially begins. After registration and permits are issued, you’ll set off into the lush montane rainforest.

Day 2: Machame Camp (3,010m) – Shira Camp (3,845m)
Today, after a filling breakfast, the trail leaves the forest and ascends into open moorland. The lush greenery slowly fades into tall grasses and volcanic rock as you approach the expansive Shira Plateau.

Day 3: Shira Camp (3,845m) – Lava Tower (4,640m) – Barranco Camp (3,960m)
This is an essential acclimatization day. The trek ascends gradually to Lava Tower, a dramatic volcanic formation at 4,640m. Here you’ll stop for lunch, allowing your body to adapt to the higher altitude.

Summit Day! Around midnight, your guides will wake you with hot tea and snacks. By headlamp, you’ll ascend steep scree slopes toward Stella Point (5,730m), reaching the crater rim in time for sunrise.
