3 Days Bale Mountains Safari
Adventure in Bale Mountains National Park, exploring Ethiopia’s largest Afro-alpine plateau and its unique wildlife. Experience the Sanetti Plateau, home of the rare Ethiopian wolf, visit Tullu Dimtu—the highest peak in the region—and discover scenic alpine lakes. Enjoy wildlife viewing in the Gaysay Grasslands, including Mountain Nyala and Menelik’s Bushbuck, and hike along the Web and Denka Rivers through stunning mountain landscapes.
Take a morning flight from Addis Ababa to Goba. Upon arrival, meet your guide and begin exploring the spectacular Bale Mountains. Drive and hike across the Sanetti Plateau, the largest Afro-alpine habitat in Africa and home to the rare Ethiopian wolf. Visit Tullu Dimtu, the highest peak in the Bale Mountains (4,377m). Continue to Lake Garba Guracha, a stunning high-altitude crater lake surrounded by volcanic formations and alpine scenery.
Overnight: Camping at Sanetti Plateau.
Explore the Gaysay Grasslands, one of the best areas to observe endemic wildlife such as the Mountain Nyala and Menelik’s Bushbuck, often seen in herds. Other species include Bohor reedbuck, warthogs, baboons, and diverse birdlife such as Abyssinian longclaw and marsh harrier. Continue with a scenic hike along the Web and Denka Rivers, enjoying waterfalls and dramatic landscapes where the rivers meet.
Overnight: Camping.
Goba – Fly to Addis Ababa
After breakfast at camp, transfer to Goba Airport for your flight back to Addis Ababa. Upon arrival, enjoy a farewell dinner and free time before your international departur
Tour involves high-altitude travel and moderate trekking, so good physical fitness is recommended.
Weather can be cold on the plateau, so warm clothing is essential.
Accommodation is in basic camping facilities.
