Bale Mountains are among the most unspoiled and exceptionally beautiful places in Ethiopia. The peaks rise over 4,000 meters, with Mount Tulu Deemtu standing at an altitude of 4,377 meters above sea level the second-highest peak in the country. This three-day tour offers the opportunity to visit lesser-explored sites, meet local people, explore the largest Afro-Alpine habitat in Africa, and spot a variety of endemic mammals such as the Ethiopian wolf, mountain nyala, Ethiopian bushbuck, giant mole-rat, and Bale monkey, along with a great variety of endemic birds.

Itinerary
Start Point:

DAY 1: In the morning, fly from Addis Ababa to Bale. Upon arrival, meet your guide and drive about an hour to the Gesse grasslands, passing through stunning landscapes. Enjoy spotting endemic wildlife such as mountain nyala, Ethiopian bushbuck, reedbuck, warthogs, olive baboons, and various birds. Located at around 3,000 meters above sea level, the grasslands offer a perfect introduction to the park’s diverse ecosystems. Overnight at a hotel or campsite.

Sanetti Plateau, Ethiopia

DAY 2: Today, explore the Sanetti Plateau, home to the Ethiopian wolf and giant mole-rat. Visit Tullu Deemtu, Ethiopia’s second-highest peak, and trek to Garba Guracha (Black Lake), set over 4,000 meters above sea level. Enjoy stunning views and spot rare wildlife and birds. In the afternoon, continue to the Harenna Forest for overnight camping amid lush greenery and wildlife.

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

DAY 3: After breakfast, drive from the campsite to Goba Airport, stopping briefly in the Harenna Forest and enjoying lunch before your flight to Addis Ababa. On arrival, explore the National Museum, Entoto Mountain, Merkato, and a major Orthodox church. In the evening, enjoy a farewell dinner with traditional food and cultural performances, then transfer to the airport for your flight home.
