Classic Uganda Primate & Wildlife Safari
Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you are warmly welcomed and transferred to your hotel on the shores of Lake Victoria. The journey then begins northwards with a stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for a guided walk tracking the endangered white rhinos, before continuing to Murchison Falls National Park. Enjoy thrilling game drives, a boat cruise to the base of the thunderous falls, and a visit to the dramatic Top of the Falls.
Travel south through the picturesque Albertine Rift Valley to Kibale Forest, where crater lakes, cultural encounters, and an unforgettable chimpanzee trekking experience await. The adventure continues to Queen Elizabeth National Park for classic savanna game drives and a scenic boat cruise along the wildlife-rich Kazinga Channel.
Your safari concludes in the lush highlands of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park with a once-in-a-lifetime mountain gorilla trekking experience. After time to relax and reflect, return to Entebbe by road or optional domestic flight.

After an early breakfast, depart for Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, about 3.5 hours from Kampala, for a guided nature walk to track the endangered white rhinos in their natural habitat. Lunch en route, continue to Murchison Falls National Park, enjoying scenic views of the northern plains and the Victoria Nile. On arrival, visit the spectacular Top of the Falls, where the Nile forces through a narrow gorge. Check in at your lodge with dinner and overnight at Twiga Safari Lodge.
Enjoy breakfast before a morning game drive along the northern bank of the Nile, searching for elephants, buffalo, giraffes, antelopes, hyenas, and possibly lions or leopards. Return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation. In the afternoon, take a shared boat cruise to the Bottom of the Falls, passing hippos, crocodiles, elephants, and rich birdlife near the dramatic Devil’s Cauldron. Travel south through Hoima into the scenic Albertine Rift Valley, enjoying rolling hills, farmlands, and traditional homesteads along the way. Despite the longer drive, the ever-changing landscapes make the journey rewarding. After lunch en route, arrive near Fort Portal for a relaxing walk around beautiful crater lakes set in volcanic scenery. Learn about the Tooro Kingdom’s culture during a local homestead visit before checking in and unwinding at your lodge.
After an early breakfast, transfer to the briefing point for your chimpanzee trekking experience. Explore the lush rainforest in search of wild chimps and other primates such as red colobus, red-tailed monkeys, blue monkeys, and grey-cheeked mangabeys. After lunch, continue to Queen Elizabeth National Park (approx. 3.5 hours). Enjoy an evening game drive as you head to your lodge. Dinner and overnight at Marafiki Safari Lodge.
Begin the day with a sunrise game drive in Kasenyi, an excellent area for spotting lions, large buffalo herds, elephants, Uganda kob and other antelope species. Enjoy lunch at Mweya Safari Lodge and in the afternoon, enjoy a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, one of Africa’s densest concentrations of hippos and waterbirds. Look out for buffalo, elephants, crocodiles, and countless bird species. Enjoy a short game drive en-route back to the lodge. Dinner and overnight at Marafiki Safari Lodge.
After breakfast, depart for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to the world’s endangered mountain gorillas. Travel through the Ishasha sector, famous for its tree-climbing lions, as well as elephants, topi, buffalo and Uganda kob. Enjoy a picnic lunch before continuing to Bwindi. Check in and spend the evening at leisure. Dinner and Overnight Gorilla Leisure Lodge.
After breakfast, head to Bwindi park HQ for a briefing before starting your gorilla trekking adventure. Hike through the rainforest to spend up to an hour with a habituated gorilla family—an unforgettable wildlife encounter. Trekking can take 1–8 hours. After breakfast, begin the scenic road transfer back to Entebbe (approx. 10 hours), passing through Mbarara, Masaka and the Equator. Enjoy lunch en-route before your evening outbound flight. Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.
Optional: Book a domestic flight from Kisoro (South) to Entebbe to shorten travel time and enjoy more comfort. Schedule varies by season.
Minimum age for gorilla trekking is 15 and Chimpanzee trekking is 12.
Sturdy hiking boots, long trousers, long sleeves, gaiters/high socks, rain jacket, hat, sunscreen, and a warm layer for treks and water is also needed.
