Akwasidae is a traditional festival celebrated by the Ashanti (Akan) ethnic group of Ghana. This great festival is observed every six weeks on a Sunday. The Ashanti calendar has 40 days in a month with a total of 10 months in the year. It a time to honour ancestors, preserve traditions and, showcase royal elegance. Additionally, the festival reinforces values like gratitude, loyalty and resilience and to showcase Ashanti culture and traditions.
